Several organized social events are being planned in conjunction with the technical program. These include:
- May 31 (4-7 PM): Catered Welcome Reception, with special guest speaker San Diego County (District 50) Congressman Brian Bilbray, member of the Science and Technology Committee in the 111th United States Congress
- June 1 (6-8 PM): Reception for IEEE members and Women in Science and Engineering, with performances by flamenco artists Rosa Téllez and Juan Moro
- June 2 (7:05 PM): A night at the ballpark, Padres vs. Phillies baseball game
- June 3: Cocktail Hour (6-7 PM) and Awards Banquet (7-11 PM), with musical guests the Mar Dels
San Diego offers numerous opportunities for sightseeing, shopping and recreation. While we are not organizing tours ourselves, tourism assistance will be provided to participants and companions at a special help desk at the conference. We are also planning to sponsor a free orientation breakfast on Monday morning for companions. More information on San Diego is available through these links:
